    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Rational Unicorn Legal Services PC is looking to hire an Of Counsel Business and IP Attorney for our community based business and intellectual property law firm. We are a certified benefit company and believe in “community business law for everyone in the community.” We offer pay as you go legal services for small businesses, nonprofits, and artists & entertainers. In addition to our fun name, we flip traditional business law on its head by partnering with community organizations and incorporating a variety of processes that work best for our clients and their business needs.

    We are headquartered in Portland, Oregon but offer services in WA, OR, and CA.

    Please note: This position is available for remote work however we would like to hire an applicant from one of the 3 states mentioned (CA, OR, or WA).

    SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Job Type: Of Counsel

    Pay: Agreed upon percentage of total legal fees per client project.

    Schedule:

    • Hours worked during the day or night are flexible as long as 1. The work is done 2. Meetings with third parties and team members of the firm are calendared and attended

    Education:

    • Law degree and good standing with 1. OR, WA, or CA state bar

    Experience/Skill-Set:

    • Ability and desire to be public facing and help clients from potential client consult phase to client project completion.
    • Willingness to network with potential community partners on behalf of the firm.
    • Experience with the following (Required and must demonstrate via application process)
    • General business entity formation (partnerships, LLCs, corporations)
    • Contract review, drafting, and revising
    • Demand, collection, and cease and desist letter drafting
    • Experience with the following (Preferred, but not required)
    • Trademark applications and prosecution
    • Copyright applications
    • Corporate process and structuring (ie. employee ownership structures, stocks, bonds, etc)
    • Buy and sell negotiation and agreements, mergers and acquisitions
    • Franchising/legal processes of other business scaling methods
    • Tax law
    • HR and Employment Law
    • Exceptional organizational skills (ie. you love calendaring and time blocking)
    • A sense of humor and sense of community.
    • Down to earth and good people skills
    • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
    • Proven ability to work within time constraints with limited supervision.

    PREFERRED START DATE

    March 10th but open depending on personal availability of the person hired
