Are my workers owners or employees? How do I treat volunteers, interns, and independent contractors? What are the basic steps I need to take to hire workers? How do I comply with local and federal law relating to wage and hour, disability accommodation/leave, and equal employment opportunity concerns?

Employment law can be tricky for cooperatives—particularly worker and consumer cooperatives. Join Wilder Clements and the Cooperative Professionals Guild for a conversation on co-op employment law basics. Ask your questions and join the discussion.

Wilder A. Clements has practiced labor and employment law since graduating from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2009.  They have provided employment advice, litigation, labor negotiations, and workplace investigation services to Fortune 500 companies, start-ups and small businesses, nonprofit organizations working for justice and social and environmental change, and local governmental agencies.  Wilder has litigated employment cases in state and federal court throughout California. Wilder has been named a SuperLawyers Rising Star and recognized for outstanding contributions to pro bono service by the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies at UC Law. They are a member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the California Lawyers Association - Labor & Employment Law Section, the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom, and the Society for Human Resources Management.
