December Webinar: The state of the USDA with USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Services administrator Dr. Karama Neal

On Thursday December 8 at 10am PT/1pm ET, Dr. Karama Neal, administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business Cooperative Service, will speak on the following:

  • Implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act;

  • USDA strategic plan;

  • Rural Development (RD) priorities;

  • Cooperatives in the various Food Systems Transformation work,

  •  including meat;

  • Key topics discussed at the four Interagency Working Group on Cooperative Development meetings in July/August 2022; and 

  • Q/A.

No Coffee Chat this month 

The CPG Membership Circle will resume our monthly coffee chats in January.

 

Updates on CPG incorporation 

CPG is now incorporated as a Delaware corporation and has applied for 501(c)(3) status. Our Bylaws are being finalized and we are in the process of winding down our fiscal sponsorship with SELC as we build out CPG as a nonprofit organization. 


2023 CPG Membership Drive

CPG’s membership is renewed on an annual basis at the beginning of each year; Members who join part way through the year are assessed a prorated amount for membership. This year, we are holding our membership drive in January; 2022 memberships will be extended through January 31st, 2023. Members and contacts will receive an email later this month with more details. Thank you for joining us to grow the strength, capacity, and diversity of co-op legal and accounting services as Members of CPG.


Planning for 2023 webinars

Please contact the CPG Webinar Circle (webinars@professionals.coop) for suggestions on cooperative topics that you are interested in hearing about in 2023. The Webinar Circle is considering offering webinars on the following topics: cooperative tax, financing cooperatives, union cooperatives, nonprofit cooperatives, limited equity cooperatives, platform cooperatives,  decentralized autonomous organization-cooperatives (DAO-coops), governance system comparisons, holding cooperatives. Please let us know your top questions regarding these topics or other topics of interest to you.

The Cooperative Professionals Guild is a growing network of co-op professionals created by us, for us. We’re currently volunteer-run. Here are some ways you can participate:
